On August 10, the World Candy World Cup will be held in Gränna – or “Candy Capital of the World” as the organizer Gränna Näringsliv wants to call the town. New for this year is a major effort to invite foreign candy makers.
– The time is ripe and we have the opportunity to organize the competition in this way this year,” says Fredric Agnhammar, project manager for the Polar Bear World Cup.
The production of candy canes in the rest of the world is not nearly as large as in Sweden. In Gränna there are no less than 15 candy manufacturers and Fredric Agnhammar wants to take advantage of the local production.
– By organizing the Polkagris World Cup, we extend the tourist season in Gränna, which of course benefits the region. We also want to put Gränna on the map as the “Candy Capital of the World”.
