EVERYONE’S BALLOON!
The balloon – Calle Örnemark’s sculpture Ballongfararna – in the roundabout at the entrance to Gränna collapsed in spring 2012, leaving a huge void. Someone was quick to name the roundabout White Island and even a hot air balloon from the local balloon club Andrée once took off from the roundabout for an early morning flight.
On the initiative of the Gränna Business Association, the balloon is now back to the roundabout. A completely new load-bearing structure was required to reposition the sculpture on the roundabout. A strong steel structure was made and the old boards were dismantled and reassembled on the steel structure.
Fruitful cooperation between various companies in Gränna (designers, welders, fitters, mechanical companies, etc.), the Swedish Transport Administration, Jönköping Municipality and above all Calle Örnemark ensured that the work went smoothly. The work was carried out in three stages, the basket, the middle section and the top section.
The cost of implementing the project was just under 500,000. In addition, the business association will set aside just over SEK 100,000 for future maintenance and operating costs, bringing the total amount to SEK 600,000.
The business association hopes that everyone in Gränna will contribute in some way to the financing of our Balloon.
The association has sold shares in Ballongfararna to the Stjernströmska Fund, local associations and companies and private individuals.

The idea is to sell 1,200 shares of SEK 500 each. Those who buy 10 or more shares will receive a plaque on the information board, which will be placed next to the information board in the parking lot north of the roundabout.
All funds are earmarked for the balloon and for future maintenance measures according to the agreement between the Business Association and Jönköping Municipality. All income and expenses will be posted on the association’s website so that everyone can see how the funds raised are used.
Gränna Näringslivsförening has a separate bank account at Swedbank, 8150-5 923 781 223-6, and a bank giro 5813-1053 where companies, associations and private individuals who want to buy shares in the common Gränna symbol can deposit money. State “Ballongen and thebuyer’s name ” and we will send you a numbered share certificate for the number of shares purchased.
