The balloon in the roundabout at the entrance to Gränna collapsed, leaving a large void behind. Someone was clever enough to name the roundabout White Island and even a hot air balloon has taken off from the roundabout and come a little way.
On the initiative of the Gränna Business Association, the balloon is now back to the roundabout. A lot of work has been done to create a supporting structure so that the balloon can stand in the roundabout.
A fruitful collaboration between various companies in Gränna (constructors, welders, fitters, mechanical companies, etc.), the Swedish Transport Administration, Jönköping Municipality and, above all, Calle Örnemark, the work of art that is so symbolic for Gränna has been repositioned.
The cost of carrying out the project will be around SEK 600,000 and the Business Association hopes that everyone will contribute this money. The association has already received grants of 28,200 from the Stjernströmska Fund, Gränna Rotary Club with 5,000 and pledges from a few others, so about 55,000 has already been raised.
All funds are earmarked for the return of the balloon and for future maintenance according to the agreement with Jönköping municipality. All income and expenses will be posted on the association’s website so that everyone can see how the collected funds are used.
